Unser Team verrät seine Geheimtipps in und um Grindelwald

Whenever we find time, we are drawn to the slopes with skis or snowboards. It does not matter whether we explore the sunny slopes of the First Region or the extensive slopes of the Kleine Scheidegg / Wengen area. With the family we like to do a fast sledge run, favourite toboggan slope: Fox Run from Kleine Scheidegg to Wengen! Be careful in the curves!

Après-Ski-Tip: directly at the slope 22 from Schreckfeld to Grindelwald lies the cosy Brügglibeizli with a beautiful sun terrace. Or a stop at the Rancher Bar just before the end of the slope is always worthwhile.

Chef de Réception

I am a passionate skier and spend most of my free days on the slopes. My favourite slope is definitely the famous Lauberhorn downhill to Wengen, even though I am not quite as fast as the pros! If open, it is also worth trying the Stepfi.

Après-ski tip: Schürlibar on the descent from Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald (No. 22). There are also changing live bands creating a very lively atmosphere.

If you like a quiet hike with a fantastic view, take the bus to Bussalp and walk comfortably to Bort. On this easy way, you can really enjoy the tranquillity of nature. Tip: take the sledge with you and take a slightly faster pace in between.

Skibar-Tip: make sure to stop on the way to Bort in the “Rasthysi”. Homemade soups, dried meat platters and a cool beer give strength for the second half of the way.

If I go skiing with my family, I like to go to the Männlichen area. Even for children, the slopes are well suited and I particularly like the slope back to Grindelwald because here are usually less people than on the Scheidegg side. If you do not want to ski all the way down, take the gondola back from Holenstein or go up from there again and venture a second time.

Aprés-Ski-Tip: “Holzerbar” at the valley run Holenstein Grund, just before Hotel Aspen. Brave skier try one of the many coffee and schnapps specialities.

I like taking the gondola from Grindelwald Grund up to Männlichen and enjoy the great view to the other side towards Mürren and Schilthorn. Thanks to the new gondola lift, the ride will be even more comfortable this winter.

My tip: from Männlichen with the sledge direction Holenstein, The best thing is the “Läger” slope (No. 62), where you can stop at the skibar “Läger”, where live bands sometimes perform their repertoire.

Direktionsassistentin & Réception

In winter I spend almost all my time off on the ski slope. Most of the time I take the train to Kleine Scheidegg as early as possible and try to pull the first lane into the slopes between Scheidegg, Honegg and Arven. Later in the day, the black run from Eigergletscher to Fallboden must be tried in any case.

My favourite place for a little break between the runs: Restaurant Grindelwaldblick above Kleine Scheidegg. Great view, nice service and of course delicious food await you here.

In winter, I like to take the gondola up to First and enjoy the view from Cliff Walk. The best slopes start from Oberjoch for me. If I do not have the skis with me, I take the First Flyer to Schreckfeld and from there I take the sledge to Bort or even to Grindelwald.

Après-ski stop on the way to the valley: Busstop Bar. There is actually a real bus here and the party starts already in the afternoon. Also special events such as a pool party in the middle of winter are offered here.

Beautiful is the hike from First to Waldspitz and then through the snowy forest to Bort. Of course you can also take a sledge and take a faster run. If you like to go further, take the mountain trail to the restaurant Wetterhorn. As the name implies, here you have a great view of the imposing upper glacier.

My tip: have a “Vermicelles” at the restaurant Wetterhorn before you walk or take the local bus back to Grindelwald
