Grindelwald

is very easy to reach either by public transports or by car.
Once you have arrived in Grindelwald, you will find that the Hotel Derby is situated very centrally in the village next to the little railway station.

By airplane:

Airport Bern Belp: approx. 96 km
The airport Bern-Belp is mainly used by regional airlines. Per train or car you reach Grindelwald within about an hour.

Airport Zürich-Kloten: approx. 196 km
All main international airlines offer connections to Zurich-Kloten. Thanks to its own train station you profit from hourly direct connections to Bern. The journey to Grindelwald by train or car takes about 2 hours.

Airport Basel-Mulhouse: approx. 173 km
Basel-Mulhouse is a rather small airport, even though some of the international airlines like Swiss, Easyjet, Air France, Lufthansa etc. fly there. From the airport you can take a bus to Basel main station, from where it takes about 2 hours to get to Grindelwald by train. By car you might be a little faster.

Airport Genf-Cointrin: approx. 207 km
As well the Genf-Cointrin airport has its own train station with direct connections to Bern. By train or car it takes about 3 hours to reach Grindelwald.

Do not lose time by waiting for your suitcases. From every airport in the world your luggage can be sent via Zurich, Geneva or Bern airport directly to Grindelwald station. This means you arrive at the airport and your luggage will automatically be delivered to the station of your final destination.

By train:

The most comfortable way to reach Grindelwald and especially the hotel Derby is by train. As the hotel is located directly at the station you are only a few footsteps away from your holiday.

International trains from more than 12 countries run to and through Switzerland. Especially with the faster Intercity-trains you reach Interlaken Ost very quickly and if there is not a direct connection changing trains is only necessary in Bern. In Interlaken Ost, you take the “Berner Oberland Bahn” direction to Grindelwald. Listen to the announcements and the marking at the side of the coaches as in Zweilütschinen, only the back part of the train will continue to Grindelwald.

By car:

Even by car Grindelwald is very easy to reach. Please note that the free parking spaces at the hotel are very limited and therefore an advanced reservation is not possible. Of course, our porter will be pleased to help you park your car.

From Basel or Bern:
Highway A2/A1 through Bern, direction to Interlaken. Take the exit direction to Wilderswil and follow the signage to Grindelwald. The journey takes approx. 2 hours.

From Zürich or Luzern:
Either you take A1 direction to Bern and Interlaken (approx. 2,5 hours drive) or A14 direction to Luzern and over the Brünig mountain pass (during wintertime we recommend to check the road conditions first) to Interlaken, Grindelwald. Duration approx. 2 hours.

From south:
From south you reach Interlaken over the Grimsel mountain pass (only in summer) or over the Simplon mountain pass (sometimes closed in winter) and by the car-train “Lötschberg”.

From Geneva:
A1 direction to Bern and further to Interlaken and Grindelwald
