SnowpenAir 2022 Grindelwald Hotel Derby

So far we had a great season with lots of snow and sunny weather, but there are still many cool events in Grindelwald.

One event you shouldn’t miss is the famous SnowpenAir 2022 at Grindelwald Terminal on March 26 and 27, 2022.

The program includes well-known names such as Sunrise Avenue, Patent Ochsner, Stefanie Heinzmann, Francine Jordi, the Bermudas, and Helene Fischer.

More information about the program can be found on the SnowpenAir 2022 website.

Recently it was announced that the ski resorts will be open longer than planned. The last lift, the Eiger North Face chairlift, will close on May 1, 2022. For more details on ski area opening times, click here.

We would be delighted to welcome you to the Derby Hotel in Grindelwald. For reservations please click here.

The 39th World Snow Festival took place in Grindelwald from 17.01 – 22.01.2022.

8 artists from all over the world created beautiful sculptures on the theme of mountains from 3.5m high snow blocks.

First place went to last year’s runner-up, sculptor Lucas Walt, who lives in Schaan (Liechtenstein), and his Swiss team, Konradin Furrer and Andreas Egger (see picture above).

Don’t miss the art spectacle with the theme ‘Tradition’ in the anniversary year between 16.01. – 21.01.2023. The best thing to do is to book now at the Derby Hotel Grindelwald.

From October 8 – 17, 2021 the exhibition Light Art Grindelwald is back for the second time in Grindelwald.

The exhibition features national and international light artists. Their art in public spaces will be exhibited in the centre of Grindelwald with the impressive backdrop of the Eiger North Face.

The exhibition is free to the public and can be explored on your own.

What is light art?

It is the connection between work and perception in a special way. Contemporary artists create aesthetic, seemingly empty spaces of light, whose physical perception is an essential part of these works of art.

Grindelwald has a new webcam – a spectacular webcam on the Eiger Mittellegigrat.

We have placed a new web page with the webcam for you in the Grindelwald menupoint and compiled interesting information about the first ascent of the Eiger over the Mittellegigrat exactly 100 years ago. Let yourself be inspired by the impressive live pictures here.

The Derby Swiss Quality Hotel Grindelwald team will be happy to provide you with more information about activities in Grindelwald during your stay at the hotel.

Grindelwald will host the 9th Eiger Ultra Trail from 16 – 18 July 2021.

The Eiger with an altitude of 3970m and its north face fascinates both mountaineers and trail runners. At the foot of the Eiger North Face and the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Jungfrau-Aletsch, many athletes from several nations will meet again this year.

Participants can normally choose their personal challenge from 4 trail distances. Due to the Covid-19 situation, however, this year the top discipline with 6700 metres of altitude difference has been omitted. The different courses have stage locations such as Grosse Scheidegg, First, Faulhorn, Schynige Platte, Wengen, Männlichen, Kleine Scheidegg and the traverse under the Eiger north face.

It is fascinating to watch and cheer on the participants on the course. Come and see us – we look forward to your room reservation.
